Different Ways to Plant Grass with a TurfMaker®
New and Untapped Market for Hydromulching |
Message from Jim Lincoln - President, TurfMaker® Corporation We believe that hydro-mulching contractors can get a much larger share of the sod market by offering a turnkey grass establishment service. One Big Market: Consider the fact that home builders pay $1.75-$3.00 sq/yd (20¢ - 30¢ sq/ft) for installed sod. A hydro-mulching contractor can provide an established lawn for 20% to 50% less than the cost of sod and provide the builder with the one thing that is most important to him - saving money. The Processes: To provide a finished, established lawn, the contractor first hydro-mulches the lawn area with premium hydro-mulching materials. Then the contractor waters, mows, fertilizes, and repairs whatever damages that may have occurred during the grow-in time. The care continues until the grass can be declared "full coverage". The contractor does everything necessary to remove the home builder from every problem associated with grass establishment. The Costs & Profits: On a typical lawn situation, it takes two men two or three hours to set up a temporary irrigation system, using battery operated irrigation controllers. (Those controllers cost about $40.) Mowing and fertilizing also adds to the contractor's costs. Note, however, that a builder can pay 15¢-25¢ sq/ft for the finished lawn and still save hundreds of dollars. A contractor can provide the "all inclusive" service, and still make an excellent profit. Many hydro-mulching contractors are innovators and pioneers. Some will venture into uncharted seas. Those who try new things take risks, but also have exceptional profit potential. I welcome your email regarding what I believe to be a huge market potential. Jim Lincoln |
