Grass grown from seed on the soil at the site will usually be healthier, in the long run, than sodded grass. The primary reason is that sodded grass is grown in a different soil than the soil at the site. When sod is laid, with different soil on its roots, two layers of soil are created. Growing plants, including grass, do not necessarily like to grow through layers of different soils. This is why some sodded jobs are found to not have taken root, even months after the sod was laid. |
