At a recent meeting of hydro-mulching contractors, they stated that getting water was a major nuisance, frequently highly inconvenient, and sometimes difficult. The TurfMaker® 500 was designed from it's inception to deal with this issue. Even the size of the mixing tank is important to provide the appropriate coordination of available water and cycle time. Cycle time is the total time required to mix and apply a batch of material.
Any flat bed truck can carry a 500 gallon water tank. At the job site, the tank can be placed on the ground and be continuously filled with two garden hoses. This water supply is almost always enough water for the continuous application of two tank loads of hydro-mulching per hour with the TurfMaker® 500. With good water pressure, or more than two garden hoses, three tank loads per hour can be applied..
In some cases, it may be possible and desirable to use water from a high volume source, such as a fire hydrant. With a heavy duty one-ton truck and the machine on a trailer, the machine can be loaded and mixed at the water source. Secondly, the water tank on the truck can be filled. The additional water on the truck provides water for a second tank load at the job site, and also water for flushing the hose.
